Walmart recently called me and told me they would put Ivory Dish Soap back in stock, and they haven’t yet. Most other dish soaps contain benzene, a benzyl group, or other harmful chemicals. I can’t see one clear dish soap that is safe to use. That is at ANY store! They ALL contain benzene or other garbage. I don’t think Ivory does! I use it to wash my car interior, my fridge, my baby toys–lots of stuff, but I wouldn’t do that with benzene containing dish soaps. That’s what is in most of your antibacterial dish soaps, and you can see and feel the residue it leaves on your dishes. Even Palmolive Original isn’t original anymore. We called up them and Dawn–they were nice but all of their soaps are BAD. Ivory and some of the creamy white generics might be safe.

They have done studies that show that some of the ingredients in some products are linked to cancer, breathing disorders, etc. Every person is different and what one person might be sensitive to, another may not be. That’s why I figure it’s better to be safe, than sorry. Non-toxic cleaning products are better for humans and most definitely the planet.

Hey, All products can be potentially harmful, due to the nasty chemicals inside. I often water mine down or use sparingly.

This is super true. Research is beginning to show that the more you use strong cleaning products in your house, the higher the likelihood of respiratory problems and nerve problems. No joke.

Safe products that can do almost anything: Vinegar or lemon juice, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, dish soap, and elbow grease. I also personally love the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for scuff marks.

Sometimes you will have to use the more powerful stuff, but make sure you open a window, don’t breath the stuff and wear gloves.
